Terra Mechanica Maris Ltd Shortlisted for Best Practice Award at Scottish Green Energy Supply Chain Awards 2026

Earlston, Scotland — Terra Mechanica Maris Ltd has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Best Practice Award category at the Scottish Green Energy Supply Chain Awards 2026, organised by Scottish Renewables.

Now in its fifth year, the awards recognise the organisations, projects and individuals driving excellence across Scotland’s renewable energy supply chain. The 2026 shortlist highlights the depth of capability across the sector, from specialist SMEs to major industry operators supporting the delivery of Scotland’s £15 billion renewable energy industry.

Terra Mechanica Maris Ltd has been recognised for its disciplined, engineering-led approach to offshore operations, mechanical maintenance, and project support within the marine and energy sectors. The company continues to deliver practical, high-quality solutions across complex offshore environments, supporting clients through hands-on technical expertise and structured operational oversight.

Garry McGowan, Marine Operations Director at Terra Mechanica Maris Ltd, said:
“This recognition reflects the standard of work being delivered by the team both on and offshore. The category is highly competitive, and it’s encouraging to see the level of engineering capability across the sector. Being named alongside other respected organisations is a strong position to be in.”

The Best Practice Award category includes a range of organisations demonstrating high standards in operational delivery, engineering quality, and industry contribution. Terra Mechanica Maris Ltd joins a shortlist that reflects the breadth and capability of Scotland’s renewable energy supply chain.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 28 May 2026 at P&J Live, Aberdeen, bringing together key stakeholders from across the renewable energy industry.

Terra Mechanica Maris Ltd Represented on Industry Panel at IDCORE Symposium 2026

Terra Mechanica Maris Ltd is pleased to confirm that its Marine Operations Director, Garry McGowan, was invited to participate as an industry “Dragon” at the IDCORE Symposium 2026, hosted at the University of Edinburgh.

The symposium, delivered by the EPSRC and NERC Industrial CDT for Offshore Renewable Energy (IDCORE), brings together research engineers, industry leaders, and academic partners to explore the technical and commercial challenges shaping the future of the offshore renewable energy sector.

As part of the opening “Dragons’ Den” session, Garry joined a panel of experienced industry professionals to review and challenge project proposals presented by IDCORE research teams. The session focused on floating offshore wind and hydrogen integration concepts, requiring participants to assess both technical feasibility and commercial viability under time pressure.

Two teams — PACS Energy and More Than Energy — presented detailed proposals, demonstrating strong engineering capability alongside developing commercial awareness. Both teams were required to defend their concepts through structured questioning, replicating real-world investor and delivery scrutiny.

Garry McGowan commented:

“It was a privilege to be invited to take part in the symposium and to contribute to the Dragons’ Den panel. The standard of work presented by the teams was genuinely impressive — technically strong, well thought through, and delivered with confidence.

What stood out was the ability of the researchers to engage with challenge and respond under pressure, which is critical in real-world project delivery. The programme is clearly developing engineers who understand not just the technical detail, but the commercial realities of the sector.”

In addition to the Dragons’ Den session, the symposium featured keynote presentations from senior industry figures, including Nina Skorupska CBE FEI, alongside a series of technical poster sessions and research presentations covering key offshore renewable energy challenges.

The event provided valuable insight into emerging research across areas including floating wind systems, hydrogen integration, digitalisation, and environmental considerations. The calibre of work presented reflects the strength of the IDCORE programme and its role in developing the next generation of engineers for the offshore energy sector.

Terra Mechanica Maris Ltd’s participation reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting innovation, skills development, and industry collaboration within offshore engineering and renewable energy.

The company welcomes further opportunities to engage with academic and industry partners to support the development and delivery of practical engineering solutions.

We’ve recently been featured in the Border Telegraph following Terra Mechanica Maris Ltd achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification.

For a small business based in the Scottish Borders, this is an important step — not just in terms of accreditation, but in how we structure, deliver, and continuously improve our work across offshore engineering and support services.

The certification, awarded by DNV, reflects the systems and standards we’ve put in place to support consistent, high-quality delivery for our clients.

Good to see the work being recognised locally.
